cutting and placing
and stitching
and creating a pleasing pulse...
a unifying pattern, a burst of energy and light, a design in time, an ουρανός

clouds
The clouds today
are crouching crawling muscly beasts
gleaming with sunshine
groping their way through the air
to rest
on the mountain peak.
A rippling mass
of windstrewn rain and ice and snow
in my endless blue shuttercaught
sky.

Fire!
In Cyprus, when a fire alarm in the office rings nobody moves from their desk. Maybe it could be devotion to duty. Really we all know it's indifference.

air
it's the simple things that make us truly happy
a windy day at the seaside
my son's smile
and something else without a name.

colours
how much do we actually see when we look at the world around us?
placement
centeredness
motion and colour
atmosphere
there are days when i can't see this either.

sunshine
I'm looking out the window today and imagining myself out in the sunshine. It's a beautiful day.
I wonder how many of the people around me have actually really noticed.

people
maybe this is because most of our time is spent doing the vitally necessary but mind-bogglingly boring tasks of everyday life. most of us spend a lot of time on necessities but very little time actually doing what really fulfills us. and if we do spend a significant amount of time doing what really fulfills us, then the rest of the planet (probably) considers us to be a bit "lazy," "irresponsible" or "self-centered".
then there are those who put a lot of effort into justifying their time when in reality they've done absolutely nothing at all but just want to appear to have been doing something. this is just an effort at pulling the wool over the eyes of those around them. if they're successful, they're never seen as lazy, self-centered or irresponsible.
types of people?
- people who satisfy most or all of their obligations but would really rather be doing something more fulfilling
- people who satisfy most or all of their obligations but don't have anything more interesting to do with their time.
- people who fulfill few or none of their obligations and maintain the ruse of having done so...but haven't done anything more interesting or fulfilling with their time.
- people who fulfill few or none of their obligations, don't bother covering-up for their neglect and who spend most of their time doing what really fulfills them.
- people who fulfill few or none of their obligations and maintain the ruse of having done so while actually spending their time doing what really fulfills them.
and, finally, those who satisfy all of their obligations and also make time to "do the fun stuff". that's difficult.
most people probably fall into the category of satisfying most of their obligations and wishing that they could do/had done/could have done the "fun stuff". that's unfortunate.
of course, i always see things in black and white so it's hard tellin'..........
i only look like i have the answers (actually I don't know jack-sh*t)...i'm good at that.

possibility
Christopher: What's beyond the planets?
Me: The stars.
Christopher: What's beyond the stars?
Me: I really don't know...there's so many stars...
Christopher: I know what's after the stars...
Me: Really? What?
Christopher: It's all white and it's full of doors.
white being the total of all colours (endless imaginary possibility) and doors being the choices we all have in front of us.
maybe we should all see things like a 7-year-old...just look at all those lights!!

Questions
When I see the sea once more
will the sea have seen or not seen me?
Why do the waves ask me
the same questions I ask them?
And why do they strike the rock
with so much wasted passion?
Don't they get tired of repeating
their declaration to the sand?
People look at me and say I'm "doing my own thing". I say I'm walking the path that's being built in front of me.
I don't believe in predestination or that people's fates are "written" but, given that my choices involve doing what brings me enjoyment and fulfillment, I'm not sure that my life could be otherwise than what it is.
I ask a lot of questions, mostly about the people around me. Why do they not make the same kinds of fulfilling choices?
People seem so unhappy...
I'm only really unhappy when I can't get to the bottom of the "why".
I like this photo because it's a burst of colour in wintery greys:

plastic
perhaps one of the reasons that people get lost is because things often look like what they are not.
we probably get confused and then we don't know what to believe.
it's convenient that we have the media to tell us what's important and real...

clouds & dreams
sometimes it just feels like clouds are solid.
that's kind of like when you think your dreams are real...
